It’s funny how often in my life my name has taken me to the top, it started with school registers, fire drills and most recently I top the dConstruct conference attendees list, It’s gonna take and Aaron or an Aardvark to beat me. I wonder if my parents picked this name for me so I might achieve such dizzy heights…
Incidentally the backnetwork for the event is looking amazing, I had a long chat with Jeremy Keith about web2.0 at the WSG meetup in London and he was saying for him it’s about opening up your data and it’s great to see that coming out in the way dConstruct is winding up.
I really need two blogs my family is gonna have no idea what I mean by any of this (or my girlfriend for that matter)
update And whilst it’s great to be top and think linking and sharing data is a key element of this whole newfangled side to the web the two combined can lead to unrelated posts appearing on the dConstruct site, I think my geek blog needs launching and soon. But until it does if anyone fancies a northern WSG meetup then get in touch at adam dot bardsley (google mail address)

We’ve just had a wonderful party to celebrate the upcoming birthday of Jude’s friend Mr Cantrell (I’ve taken to using the blogging equivalent of hiding peoples names with aliases and abrieviations that will fool any inteligence agency that might attempt to track them) It was also a chance for us to celebrate Jude’s other friend K (see there it is again) whose birthday Jude couldn’t get down for.
It was an 80’s themed night and we have some excellent photos of some very funny costumes. The highlight for me was however the Salsa lessons. I think if I ever get good enough it may have to be a future career for me. I went as Sonny Crocket which for those of you who aren’t to clear on the 80’s is the white guy from Miami Vice (played by colin farrel in the latest version). I shall also quickly highlight we’re not talking about Johnny Corckett (more famously known as Davey Crockett) hence the photos (when we post them) won’t have me with a skunk hat on. Anyway I shall let Jude write about the night in her upcoming post that she’ll have to post now.
We’ve just stopped at my parents house on the last leg of our journey (we stopped for a couple of days in London with Jude’s brother on the way down) so I should get back to that now.

After having a wonderful time at the WSG meetrup last weekend I’ve been thinking this week about having two blogs. Although we don’t often post on our blog (I’ve never been a diary person) I am starting to think we need two blogs. This one should really be a personal family orientated one (if only because I quite like the design and don’t want to scrap it) and then I need a geeky one of my own.
I can imagine people shaking their heads already, I think if I had a technical blog I might update it a little more. I also wouldn’t feel embarassed about using it in geeky blogs posts. Does this go against the whole point of a blog though? Blogs have always been about writing around the different facets of your life and I especially like the occasional pesonal touch on people’s blogs but I don’t think the geeky side fits with my normal life.
That and I have an idea for a Rail related blog that could work really nicely

This is probably the first post to the blog that is actually about the subject we intended. After a great weekend and help from my dad we have a very impressive piece of garden…stuff. Have a look at our new photo album. We had intended to show this when the plants were out but that seems to be taking forever (who know gardening was so slow?)
Anyway enjoy our garden photos

or the post I had to write so Sunta would find this interesting. I’d like to think she might just enjoy reading about a friend but apparently not. MySpace is apparently the place to meet people you don’t want to by the way
Anyway so Ben & Sunta cam round last night, well actually down to see Matt’s play, Well Richards actually, whatever it was, well actually not as good as some of their other stuff in my opinion.
Excellent set, very moody and pretty funny in points but it didn’t pack the same punch of other things they’ve done for me. We had a very long dicussion about whether it was focussed enough, Sunta got quite mad about it but I like to think she realised I was right by the end
It would have been nice to chat more with Richard about it but he is getting a small amount of funding to go down to London and spend a day digging a hole and a chemical suit, then sleep in it and fill it in the next day. Definately arty.
Anyway we all had a good chat and we went shopping the next day, I bought another Jacket (why is it always jackets?) and had some very nice food. Which we paid for (full price) although Ben is now obsessed with Blagging things.
Talking of which why doesn’t someone send me something for free and I’ll tell people about it.

I’ve been reading the fantastic copy over at copylogger.com and whilst I am really enjoying the thoughtful and well written information (which you’d expect) but I’m not selling anything, I don’t even really care if people read this blog, in fact why am I even blogging (if you can call these sporadic posts a blog).
I think it comes down to the new thing I do so well, if somethings new I have to be on that band waggon thing I’ve always been about.

Although the two are unrelated I thought about them at the same time. At training after a short ChiSau with Sifu (a kind of very gentle spar to work on reflexes, called touching hands) my Sifu (like Sensai) said to the guy I was working with he said “he’s not bad” which coming from one of the best KungFu teachers in certainly England made me feel good
I know very sad of me
Also today in Lancaster it is snowing! I will post photos tonight

I have just managed to kill our handy down G3 Mac, it wasn’t as pretty as all that and by todays standards was pretty slow, but then it occured to me how many 5 year old PC’s could run the latest windows XP never mind Vista? It may come back but the Harddrive was warning me like Scott from Star Trek “The engines canne take it, Adam!” via a small disk utility and I just wouldn’t listen.
Imagine how bad Star Trek would have been if it did the star ship equivalent and just stopped as they hurtled towards something really important. Anyway it’s dead.

and they are usually mine. You’re right Fran it is really hard to tell which one of us is blogging - especially when Adam is logged in as me, however he is the one currently practicing the ancient and mystical marshal arts. Which is all very well and good, except when you are the other half, generally know as the practice punch bag (honestly this time I’ll do it really gently and it definitely won’t hurt - yeah right)! Personally I was much more into the decidedly less mystical American style kickboxing, which rarely varied from the imagine this bloke is getting in your face - now take him down routine; ahh happy days. Lets just hope the mystical one remembers to block next time
