After having seen … After having seen the latest movie of the famous actor ” Russel Crowe” (Which I am more than a fan of) called “Robin Hood” The movie ” Gladiator” came back into my memories, and well i guess i can only say: Hollywood wouldn’t be the same without Russel Crowe, as he is absolutely the greatest actor in acting the medieval characters. Also the soundtrack of when he dies in this movie, is undescribable sad, yet still peaceful. It is significant!

Anyone notice the … Anyone notice the printed poster, funny that printing was not invented then, but that does not detract from a great film! I have Gladiator on video and watched it several times.

The name of the emperors in the movie and time line match.
But rest of the stories is probably a fiction.

@hazelrocks23 sadly … @hazelrocks23 sadly no. unlike most of ridley scotts historical dramas which are usually (at least loosely) based around facts. the emperor and his father and sister did exist. however, none of the major events are real, maximus was not a real person, ridley scott said that he based his personality off several real roman men. and the emperor certainly never died in a battle with a gladiator. i think we just have to cast aside historical accuracy and enjoy the film for what it is.
