What is the best software around $50 or under for recording music?
I’ve been recommended Acoustica MixCraft.
If anyone uses this, opinions?
Also, what about Audacity?
If you can answer any of my questions at all, please do!
to be honest Audacity is probably the best free recording program you can get or pay under $50 for. Keep in mind that audacity is only good for recording your songs. Check out ShockTrack.com to produce it.

You can try WavePad recorder/editor – it has a freeware version and a licensed version (for more complex things like frequency analysis).
Unlike Audacity you don’t need to install extra things to save your files to Mp3.
It’s available for Mac OS X and Windows. It’s a tiny download (less than 1MB) and the licensed version usually goes for around $38.00 if you need the extra features.
CNET (download.com) gave it 5 stars:
