How to Film a music video with 1 camera?
My friend is coming up tomorrow to start filming his music video. We have the recorded audio all done, The problem i am having is how would I be able to change camera angles and have the music match up with only using one camera so it will look like smooth transitions?
Example: Front shot of him rapping at the camera, second shot, side side of him rapping.
I assume i will have to have him take multiple takes of the song, is there anything else im missing or helpful tips?
It’s really difficult doing it with one camera. However, my suggestion would be to take multiple shots of the same take. But you can do it a few seconds at a time and then mix it up. For instance, 5 seconds of him at the front rapping, then he does it again as close as the first take as possible, but you would be recording at a side angle this time. Then when editing just split those two in half, 2.5 seconds of the front, 2.5 at an angle. It’s gonna be a lot of work but multiple takes is the only way i know of unless maybe you have a smartphone that can take video as well!

I am no expert, but I Would shoot the entire song from one camera angle, then another and another, then again handheld with movement and zoom, maybe also record it at half speed too. Then you have loads of options during editing for every second of the song, your edits should fit nicely and the half speed one played back at normal speed may add some interest, especially for the rapping bit, the mouth should still sync perfectly but he would have twice as much time for expressions and movement.
