Alright, a lot more work went into this than you would think, but I guess it’s a good thing that you can’t tell just how difficult it was to create.
I feel I’ve done about as good of a job as I could to edit it together in such a way that the audio approximately matches the video.
The studio recording of Free Bird (extended ending of course) has here been overlaid atop a heavily edited version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s 1974 Hamburg (Germany) show.
Please understand this WAS NOT EASY. The video here bares little resemblance to the original footage I used (it is presented in a MUCH different order). Obviously it is impossible to get everything to line up perfectly. Throughout the verse I focused on getting Ronnie’s lips, Gary’s slide, and Allen’s chords in sync. Throughout the solo I focused only on Allen’s playing, Gary’s chords, and Bob’s drums.
If you have not seen the original recording of the 1974 Hamburg show, I urge that you PLEASE go watch it BEFORE watching this one, so you can appreciate how much editing this required!

The tempo through the verse was SLOWER than studio recording, and the tempo of the solo was FASTER than the studio recording.
It was a challenge to say the least!
Enjoy!
This is for Ronnie, Allen, Leon, and Billy – we remember you!

Doobie Brothers – Listen To The Music: a quick look at the way i play the elements of this great song – thanks for watching!
Duration : 0:9:45
Hi, people.
The reason why I ‘Uploaded’ this video, is because I heard this song on ‘Arrow Classic Rock’. ( Radio Station ) I really liked this song so when I came home I tried to search for this song at YouTube. Too bad, only Live versions…
. So I thought: “Let’s upload this song for people with the same problem as me.”
This song includes no Video-Clip because I’m new to the ‘Song-posting,’ but I have posted a nice picture of ‘The Doobie Brothers.’
Hope you like it.
Because this Video does not includes a Video-Clip, you can use this Video for ‘Background-Music.’
ENJOY!!!!!

Listen To The Music
Tom Johnston
Don’t you feel it growin’,
Day by day
People
Gettin’ ready for the news
Some are happy,
Some are sad
Wo, we got to let the music play
Wo, oh yeah
What the people need
Is a way to make ‘em smile
It ain’t so hard to do if you know how
Gotta get a message
Get it on through
Oh now mama’s goin’ to after awhile
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
All the time
Well I know,
You know better
Everything I say
Meet me in the country for a day
We’ll be happy
And we’ll dance
Wo, we’re gonna dance the blues away
Wo, oh yeah
And if I’m feelin’ good to you
And you’re feelin’ good to me
There ain’t nothin’ we can’t do or say
Feelin’ good,
Feeling fine
Wo, baby, let the music play
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
All the time
Like a lazy flowing river
Surrounding castles in the sky
And the crowd is growing bigger
List’nin’ for the happy sounds
And I got to let em fly
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
All the time
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
Wo, oh, oh, listen to the music
All the time
God, we gotta let the music play!
